The below sets out the terms of use and conditions when employing or engaging the services or advice of Eudaimonia. The term ‘Eudaimonia’, ‘Eudaimonia Wellbeing’, ‘therapist’, ‘practitioner’ or ‘I’ relates to Melissa Franklin, qualified and insured to practise massage therapy within the United Kingdom against these credentials. Any greyed out items are no longer applicable.

1. Appointments and Bookings

1.1 An appointment can be requested in person, via telephone, via email or via messaging apps that Eudaimonia utilises.

1.2 First time clients will be required to:

Provide their email address to allow important appointment information to be sent and understood ahead of their first meeting.

Provide their phone number in case they need to be reached on the day.

Complete a health intake form electronically, to be received by Eudaimonia at least 24 hours ahead of their appointment.

1.3 If you are booking on behalf of someone else, I will require your contact details and that of the person receiving the treatment.

1.4 A booking is confirmed when Eudaimonia has communicated back to you the agreed date, time and location of the appointment that has been booked. In making this booking, you agree to these terms and conditions and to attend the appointment you have booked.

1.5 Payment is due at the end of the session but can be made prior to the appointment. Accepted methods of payment are debit or credit card, mobile payment, payment link or bank transfer. Additional terms apply for gift vouchers. Please view these under the section 5. For an up to date price list, the website should be consulted.

1.6 Where there is more than one client receiving treatment during a mobile visit, a £5 discount will be applied for each additional client seen in that visit i.e. if 2 clients are seen £5 will be discounted from the total, if 3 clients are seen £10 will be discounted from the total.

1.7 All first time clients will go through a consultation at the beginning of their first appointment. This process allows me to develop a suitable and safe treatment plan for that session, or subsequent treatments.

1.8 Males are seen by Eudaimonia but only through referral. A referral can be made by an existing client of Eudaimonia’s of any gender or from a close female friend, relative or partner of the male whom the appointment is for.
2. Cancellations and Late Arrivals

2.1 I require a minimum of 24 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule an appointment. Failure to attend an appointment with fewer than 24 hours’ notice of cancellation will result in the charge being made for the full appointment. This charge covers the costs sustained through insufficient time being provided to fill your appointment slot with another client.

2.2 Please inform Eudaimonia as soon as possible if you no longer need or cannot attend your appointment; this allows Eudaimonia to provide their service to another client who may be in need.

2.3 If you can only provide short notice for cancelling your appointment, the decision to waive any charges will be assessed by Eudaimonia on a case by case basis.

2.4 An invoice for any cancellation charges will be sent via email for payment by bank transfer to be completed within 7 days. Any arrears must be settled before another appointment can be made.

2.5 The complete duration of the appointment booking is important for your treatment. If you arrive late to an appointment, the missed time cannot be made up by overrunning or adding it onto a subsequent treatment and the full charge for the original appointment length will apply.

2.6 If you have not arrived within 15 minutes from the appointment’s start time, it is understood that you will not be attending the session and a cancellation charge will incur.
3. Health and Safety

Eudaimonia upholds and complies to a high industry standard of hygiene and practices and continues to monitor and update where necessary. To ensure these standards are maintained, it is important that:

3.1 Clients are clean and ensure a good level of personal hygiene out of consideration for their therapist.

3.2 Clients inform the practitioner of any contagious skin conditions prior to their appointment.

3.3 Clients with communicable diseases defer their appointment to a later time when the chance of cross contamination is null.

3.4 During mobile bookings, pets need to kept out of the room where the appointment takes place both during the treatment and when setting up and taking down the equipment.

Your safety and wellbeing is of utmost importance during your appointment which is why:

3.5 You must not attend an appointment if you are generally unwell. Any uncertainty about whether you can attend a session due to ill health or a condition should be discussed prior to the appointment. Please bear in mind the cancellation policy when considering your attendance.

3.6 An appointment will be cancelled as soon as possible, or a session terminated, if the practitioner is feeling unwell for reasons of cross contamination or being unable to provide a professional standard of treatment.

3.7 You should immediately notify the therapist if you feel unwell before, during or immediately following the treatment. Your therapist is first aid trained and will know how best to assist you.

3.8 You must disclose any medical conditions, ongoing treatments, injuries, undiagnosed pain or symptoms or anything else relevant to your health during the consultation or prior to any subsequent sessions. Failure to do this could result in the therapist providing a harmful or ineffective treatment.

3.9 If you suspect you may be pregnant this should also be disclosed during the consultation or ahead of subsequent treatments for the same reasons as outlined in 3.8.

3.10 Any under 18 year olds being seen by Eudaimonia will require a parent or guardian to accompany them, countersign their consent and remain with them for the duration of the treatment.

3.11 Consent is required from you prior to a treatment commencing. This can be withdrawn at any stage during the treatment regardless of prior consent and the session will terminate immediately.

3.12 Right of refusal to treat or continue a treatment lies with the practitioner. The practitioner may refuse to treat a client or part of the body with just cause or where it would be unsafe or not in the client’s interests to do so.

3.13 Any behaviour the therapist perceives to be aggressive, inappropriate, discriminatory or sexual will terminate the treatment and details passed onto the police or relevant authorities.

3.14 You must understand that any treatments or advice provided by Eudaimonia whether in person, online or via phone call, are not a substitute for medical care. The therapist will refer onto a medical practitioner or other health practitioner if they believe their therapy does not meet your needs.

3.15 The studio environment will be as welcoming and comfortable as possible during your appointment. If you have any special considerations, please discuss these prior to your arrival.

3.16 For mobile appointments, there will need to be sufficient space for the therapist to install their table and comfortably work around.
4. COVID-19 Safety Measures

These health and safety measures have been in place to reduce the risk of COVID-19 infection during the pandemic. The greyed out items are no longer a requirement, but may be reinstated to comply with Government guidelines.

Pre-appointment

4.1 If you display COVID-19 symptoms on the day of the appointment, it will need to be rescheduled. The cancellation policy is relaxed in this incidence.

4.2 Clinically vulnerable people (as defined by the Government here) will not be treated as this time.

At the appointment

4.3 The appointment can only go ahead if you answer no to these questions:

Have you had the recent onset of a new continuous cough?

Do you have a high temperature?

Have you noticed a loss of, or change in, normal sense of taste or smell?

4.4 You will be required to bring your own towel(s). A reminder will be sent to help.

4.5 You will be required to wear a face covering during the appointment unless you are exempt. Some reasons you may be exempt are outlined by the Government here. You will need to provide your own covering.

4.6 You will be asked to sanitise your hands either through hand washing (mobile clients) or using hand sanitiser (studio clients). Your therapist will do the same.

4.7 For new clients, consent will be obtained by signing via an electronic device which is disinfected after each appointment.

4.8 Massages of the face are unable to be given.

4.9 Payment will be taken via debit/credit card, payment link, bank transfer or mobile payments. The card machine provider accepts contactless payments up to £100.

4.10 For studio appointments:

Clients will need to remove their shoes as they enter the premises and hang up coats where shown.

Clothes will need to be placed into the container provider at the studio. This is disinfected following each appointment.

Hand sanitiser, disposable tissues and a foot operated pedal bin will be available to clients at the studio. The use of toilet facilities is permitted. Water is no longer provided and it is recommended clients bring their own.

4.11 For mobile appointments:

The therapist’s shoes will be removed on entering a client’s home and replaced with indoor only shoes.

All internal doors to be opened by the client or left open.

Only the client being treated to be present in the appointment space.

Post appointment

4.12 If you display COVID-19 symptoms or have been contacted via the NHS track and trace system in the 14 days following the appointment, you must notify Eudaimonia so the therapist can self-isolate and notify clients who have been treated since your appointment to do the same.

5. Gift Vouchers

Gift vouchers are available to purchase and out of consideration for the environment are only available electronically. Before purchasing, please be aware that:

5.1 Payment for gift vouchers must be received prior to the voucher being issued. The same methods of payment apply as outlined in 1.5.

5.2 The voucher cannot be transferred. The purchaser will be required to give the recipient’s name and contact details.

5.3 The voucher can only be used for the treatment outlined on the voucher, and cannot be exchanged for money or an alternative treatment.

5.4 The voucher must be used by the expiry date listed on the voucher, usually 6 months from purchase. Any expired vouchers will not be refunded. Extenuating circumstances will be reviewed, case by case, on requests for refunds after the voucher has expired.

Where the therapist has been unavailable due to COVID-19 restrictions, the expiry date will be extended to cover the amount of time for which the therapist was unavailable.

5.5 In the incidence where the practitioner cannot fulfil the terms of the voucher, a refund will be offered to the purchaser. For this reason, it is important that Eudaimonia has the purchaser’s contact details.

5.6 Any refunds offered will be minus any transaction fees incurred by Eudaimonia in accepting payment via these methods: credit or debit card, payment link, mobile payment.
6. Block Sessions

Promoting a continued health and wellbeing approach is important therefore Eudaimonia frequently offers the opportunity to secure a discounted price for purchasing a block of treatments. If you wish to take advantage of these offers then:

6.1 Payment for the block of sessions must be received ahead of the first appointment. Acceptable payment methods are outlined in 1.5.

6.2 These sessions cannot be transferred to another person.

6.3 These sessions are only for the treatments agreed upon when purchased and cannot be exchanged for money or an alternative treatment.

6.4 All sessions in the block must be taken in their entirety within 6 months from purchase. Any expired sessions will not be refunded. Extenuating circumstances will be reviewed, case by case, on requests for refunds after the date of expiry.

Where the therapist has been unavailable due to COVID-19 restrictions, the expiry date will be extended to cover the amount of time for which the therapist was unavailable.

6.5 In the incidence where the practitioner cannot fulfil the terms of the block session purchase, a refund will be offered to the purchaser.

6.6 Any refunds offered will be minus any transaction fees incurred by Eudaimonia in accepting payment via these methods: credit or debit card, payment link, mobile payment.
